Are Physicians' Main Concerns About Healthcare Being Adequately Addressed?
At the beginning of 2025, the top issues concerning physicians were:
1. Decreasing reimbursements
2. Increasing costs
3. More regulations such as prior authorizations
4. Increasing malpractice risks and judgments
5. Physician burnout
6. Physician shortages
7. Physician organization
8. Private practice vs employment
Now, here we are six months into 2025, and these top issues are still the top issues.
Has anything improved?
Not much!
Yes, there are ongoing efforts to improve the healthcare system.
However, progress is slow because there are so many competing interests.
Unfortunately, the interests of physicians are not at the top of anyone's list.
That is because physicians are not highly organized.
Therefore, their voices are not loud enough!
And there is not enough money funding their desires.
Will that change soon?
Not anytime soon!
So, what are physicians to do?
You have to forge your own path.
And, as I repeatedly point out, the key to you enjoying your healthcare practice again is to become financially independent.
Then, you can practice exactly as you choose.
You can see only the number of patients you choose.
Do only the surgeries you love to do.
Spend more time with patients.
Take more vacations.
Never miss another family function or kid's activity because of work.
Or you can choose not to practice any longer at all.
How can you reach that financially independent goal?
You must create additional streams of revenue.
You cannot reach that goal quickly with just the revenue from your practice.
I always ask this question:
"How would you practice if you didn't need the income?"
That is your goal!
And you can achieve it.
