Doctor, Are You Voting In The 2024 Election?

Surveys surprisingly show that physicians are less likely than other occupational groups to vote.

There are various reasons for the lower turnout from physicians.

Often, your schedule is so busy, it's hard to take the time out of your day to go do it.

But, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain!

There are so many aspects of your life as a physician that are impacted by elections.

Some of these potential impacts are:

   1.  Your Medicare reimbursement rates

   2.  Your business and personal tax rates

   3.  Laws regarding your ancillary businesses

   4.  Retirement savings rules and limits

   5.  Investment regulations and taxes

   6.  The potential for universal healthcare

   7.  Etc.

I could go on, but those are major issues.

So, your vote matters!

Physicians, me included, are quick to complain about our healthcare system and the current healthcare delivery model.

However, for the most part, we aren't doing anything to solve it.

Yes, I know, there is a growing trend of Direct Care physicians who no longer accept insurance or Medicare. But that is still a very small number.

And, I know each medical subspecialty has some PAC that is supposed to be lobbying on your behalf.  Have you actually seen results?

And then there is the AMA.  Have you seen any real results of their efforts on your behalf?

NO!

But, one thing you can do is vote.

This year especially, there are stark contrasts between the Presidential candidates and their views of government's place in our lives, how healthcare should be delivered and to whom, how best to grow the economy, business and personal tax rates, as well as many other big potentially life-changing issues.

Again, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain about the outcome.

Your vote really does matter.

Take time now to arrange your schedule on November 5, 2024.

Please exercise your right to vote!
